Giancarlos Rodriguez, a high school student from Philadelphia's Penn Treaty High School in the city's Fishtown neighborhood, organized a walkout against Pennsylvania's Keystone Exams. The walkout occurred yesterday, where he and a handful of students joined more students from neighboring public high schools. In order to receive your high school diploma from a public school in Pennsylvania, seniors must pass the Keystone Exams, which have high failure rates in inner-cities throughout the state.
During the interview, Giancarlos stated that these exams are a part of the school to prison pipeline and that his student ID number might as well be a prison ID number. To listen to the full interview, please click HERE.
